We are very sad to hear of the passing of our good friend Chris Smith.
Since 2011, Chris had been Chief Marshal at Carnoustie during the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, he also took up the role of Deputy Chief Marshal at the 2018 Open Championship and the very recent AIG Women’s Open plus The Amateur Championship in 2015 and The Senior Open in 2016. There is no doubt that his contribution to these Championships were huge.
Chris was a prominent part of the golfing community in Carnoustie and will be greatly missed. We knew Chris for having a great sense of humour and taking great joy from being out on the golf course.
We send our deepest sympathies to Chris’s family and friends, particularly his wife Patricia and sons Neil and Graeme at this difficult time.
Prior to The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, we raised a dram to Chris on 11th hole of The Carnoustie Championship Course.
