Carnoustie Golf Links is set to mark World Parkinson’s Day on Thursday 11th April from 7.30pm by turning Links House blue.
As a world-leading organisation and host of The 147th Open last year, we aim to help raise awareness of Parkinson’s to a global audience by lighting up our world-class facility in support of Parkinson’s UK in Scotland’s ‘Light Up Scotland’ campaign.
Our staff will take part in an information session on the effects of Parkinson’s Disease prior to the event, and we encourage locals to come along and view the building when it is lit up on the evening.
Other high-profile organisations across Scotland will be joining the Links in turning their landmarks and buildings cyan blue – such as BT Murrayfield Stadium, Hampden Park and The Kelpies.
Parkinson’s is a serious and progressive neurological condition with no current cure. According to recent research from Parkinson’s UK, 8 in 10 people with Parkinson’s believe that awareness and understanding is low because people don’t consider it to be a serious condition – and only associate it with one symptom – a tremor.
Parkinson’s UK is the leading charity driving better care, treatments and quality of life for those with the condition. Its mission is to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s through cutting edge research, information, support and campaigning.
