To date, the programme has provided over £500,000 in funding to local community groups and organisations in and around Carnoustie since the Links was granted charitable status in 2014.

Applications are welcomed from all community groups and organisations within the electoral ward of Carnoustie and District; encompassing Carnoustie itself and the villages of Barry, Easthaven, Monikie, Muirdrum and Newbigging.

Celebrating 10 years of Community Benefits!
Carnoustie Golf Links donate over £500k through Community Benefits Programme
At its annual Community Benefits Awards Evening on Monday 21st October 2024, Carnoustie Golf Links proudly marked the programmes 10th anniversary. This latest round of contributions takes Carnoustie Golf Links’ Community Benefits total donations to more than £500,000 since the inception of the support programme in 2014 and further cementing its commitment to the area.
Donations were awarded to various groups and causes dedicated to improving community life. By partnering with local stakeholders, Carnoustie Golf Links ensures that its contributions are used to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people and communities it serves. On the evening, Councillor David Cheape said: “This latest round of financial awards will provide a lasting benefit to many of the successful applicants and we are happy to support them in their current endeavours and wish them continued success.”
Carnoustie Golf Links have been able to support a wide range of local initiatives over the years, including:
- Annually funding the town’s Christmas Tree, and recent extension to the Christmas lights
- The Fairy Steps – restoration
- Carnoustie Panmure – Oswald Park upgrade and team shelters at Laing Park
- Carnoustie and Monifieth Men’s Shed – restoration of the Panmure Community Centre
- Carnoustie Pétanque – restoration of Maule Street park
- The Manna Project – community café start-up and upgrade costs
- Carnoustie and District Pipe Band – equipment
- Carnoustie Community Council – COVID stones butterfly restoration

Junior Golf Development
Carnoustie Golf Links places a strong focus on encouraging the next generation of golfers. By providing free access to golfing facilities for almost 400 local juniors and supporting youth golf programmes, Carnoustie helps nurture young talent, promotes healthy lifestyles, and develops the skills of future golfers. These efforts include weekly coaching sessions, competitions, and partnerships with local schools to make golf more accessible to children and young people.
Environmental and Sustainability Projects
As part of its long-term sustainability vision, Carnoustie Golf Links actively supports environmental projects designed to protect and enhance the natural beauty of the area. These initiatives focus on preserving the local ecosystem, supporting biodiversity, and implementing eco-friendly practices across the Links. Community members are regularly invited to get involved in these projects through educational workshops and environmental awareness campaigns, such as its recent BioBlitz event.
Health and Wellbeing Programmes
Carnoustie Golf Links recognises the importance of physical and mental wellbeing. It works closely with local health organisations to support initiatives that encourage physical activity, mental health awareness, and overall wellbeing. This includes Carnoustie Golf Links annual Health and Wellbeing Open Day. Carnoustie Golf Memories Carnoustie Golf Links assists local Dementia and Alzheimer’s support group – Carnoustie Golf Memories – by offering venue spaces and access to the facilities, such as the Indoor Golf Performance Centre, to provide a space for users to enjoy the game that they love so much in a safe and comfortable environment.
Educational Outreach
Through collaborations with local schools and educational organisations, Carnoustie Golf Links offers students the chance to learn about the game of golf aimed at fostering a love for learning the game inspiring the younger generations. This led to Carnoustie’s Golf Development Team winning the School to Club Link of the Year Award in 2023.
Each of these initiatives underscores Carnoustie Golf Links’ mission to not only provide world-leading golfing experiences but also to contribute to the social and environmental wellbeing of the region. Through these charitable efforts, Carnoustie Golf Links continues to play an active and meaningful role in shaping a brighter future for the local.
